ABOUT THE COURSE
BACKGROUND
Since the growth in popularity of tablet computers and iPads, many creative individuals have shifted their artistic mediums to digital means.
While there are numerous applications available with which to create digital artwork, Procreate is perhaps one of the most popular applications for iPads on the market currently.
This is due to the application’s numerous options, tools, and methods that artists have at their disposal, and the fact that the application can be downloaded with a one-time payment of $10 is extremely appealing.
Procreate’s compatibility with the iPad and its Pencil boosts the opportunities and efficiency that artists have to create illustrations.
TERMINAL OBJECTIVE
Given an iPad with the Procreate application installed, an Apple Pencil, and a portrait reference photo, the student will be able to draw a digital illustration of the subject in the photo.
Drawing a digital illustration consists of creating an aptly sized artboard, sourcing and importing the reference photo, using the proper brush techniques to draw and color the outlines, employing the use of layers, and exporting the finished file with the proper settings.

CRITERIA
For the purpose of this course, the illustration should resemble the subject in the portrait reference photo in style and colors.
The illustration should include all subject details that existed on the reference photo, including eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, and body.
The illustration should also include shadows and highlights that were on the reference photo, and it should only have a solid color as its background.
The final illustration should be exported into a PNG format and saved onto the device.
